Introducing Bloomington Chiropractor Dr. Susan Mitchell
"For years I suffered with migraine headaches that impacted the quality of my daily life. After numerous medical doctor visits with no results, I decided that I would consult with a chiropractor and underwent a series of adjustments at the age of 16. Before I knew it, my headaches were gone. I was amazed at the body's ability to heal itself!"
After graduating from Normal Community High School , Dr. Mitchell began a job as a Chiropractic Assistant in Normal, Illinois where she was able to gain valuable experience in all aspects of patient care. During this time, she completed her pre-requisite course work at Illinois State University, and was then accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During her four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating in 1996, Dr. Mitchell returned to the Bloomington/Normal area. With her dedication she has helped hundreds of people over the last 10 years.
Dr. Mitchell's personal experience as a mother of two, has inspired her to complete further post-doctoral training specializing in the care of families (women and men of all ages, children, teenagers, pregnant women, infants). "Although most people think of chiropractic as a treatment for headaches and back pain, I am always amazed at the different conditions that respond to our treatment. If nerve interference is causing the problem and I can remove that interference, the patient will improve and experience a higher health potential. It's that simple."
Introducing Bloomington Chiropractor Dr. Kelly Wilkerson
Dr. Kelly Wilkerson received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2000. She then began her career in health services as a vision therapist working with children that had visual impairments and reading disabilities. Although she enjoyed her job and found it very rewarding, she felt that she wanted to do more for people in order to enhance their quality of life. "I absolutely loved working with kids and seeing how I could change their lives by helping them to improve their visual problems and reading skills but I really wanted to help people with their overall health and wellness".
So Dr. Wilkerson moved back to her southeast Missouri hometown and went to work as a Chiropractic assistant. It didn't take long for Dr.Wilkerson to realize that she had discovered her life's profession. "Working with a chiropractor enabled me to see exactly how wellness and preventative care could dramatically change the way people lived for the better". Dr. Wilkerson was accepted to Logan College Chiropractic in the fall of 2004 where she received a second Bachelors degree in Human Biology in the spring of 2006. She continued her education further and received her Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2007. While attending Logan, she took classes in Diversified, Gonstead, Logan Basic, Thompson, Activator and Cox Flexion Distraction techniques. After graduating she received her certification in the ProAdjuster technique that is the focal technique at Mitchell Family Chiropractic.
